Case Study
Nataša Kandić is an internationally-acclaimed human rights activist and director of the Centre for Humanitarian Law (HLC) in Serbia. Kandić has spent the last three years fighting for accountability for human rights violations and war crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s – in particular, the 1995 Srebrenica massacre. Kandić was sued after HLC published a report alleging that troops under Kandić’s role had been involved in war crimes. In this video she describes how she responded to the lawsuit by turning it into an opportunity to further amplify her research.
