Case Study

Hrovje Zovko is the President of the Croatian Journalists Association, which has tallied at least 1,163 lawsuits against journalists and media associations ongoing in the country – with plaintiffs claiming almost HRK 68 million (9 million euros) in total. More than 30 of these lawsuits were filed by the public broadcaster, HRT, against its own journalists – one of which targeted Zovko himself. In this video Zovko discusses his own experiences of being SLAPPed, the broader trend of SLAPPs in Croatia, and the conditions that have given rise to this trend.
